About the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association

The Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association is a forum for trustees of locally-governed, community-based colleges to come together from around the state to learn, share, promote, and create together. We are a private, non-profit organization comprised of the 144 district board members of Wisconsin's 16 technical college districts.

About Us

Working For You

The Association office serves as a liaison with the Wisconsin legislature, U.S. Congress, state and federal agencies, college presidents, WTCS State Board and staff, public employee labor organizations, and many other groups. The Association office also supports member activities by coordinating membership conferences, award programs, and communications about the Association.

From being an effective board member to promoting successful colleges that are responsive to Wisconsin's educational and workforce needs, the District Boards Association is an enjoyable and rewarding way to develop your knowledge and skills as a district board member.

      Artificial Intelligence for Trustees

Josh Gamer, Associate VP Workforce Partnerships & Innovation

      Western Technical College

This presentation will provide the District Boards Association with a practical overview of artificial intelligence, beginning with a clear introduction to what AI is, how it has evolved from early concepts associated with Turing to today’s generative and agentic AI systems, and what it is not.

It will highlight both the opportunities and the concerns surrounding AI, including its potential to improve productivity, decision-making, student support, and workforce responsiveness, while also addressing important issues such as privacy, bias, accuracy, ethics, and governance.

The presentation will help establish a shared baseline of understanding for trustees with varying levels of familiarity and create a common language for discussing AI’s role in technical colleges.
