About the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association

The Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association is a forum for trustees of locally-governed, community-based colleges to come together from around the state to learn, share, promote, and create together. We are a private, non-profit organization comprised of the 144 district board members of Wisconsin's 16 technical college districts.

About Us

Working For You

The Association office serves as a liaison with the Wisconsin legislature, U.S. Congress, state and federal agencies, college presidents, WTCS State Board and staff, public employee labor organizations, and many other groups. The Association office also supports member activities by coordinating membership conferences, award programs, and communications about the Association.

From being an effective board member to promoting successful colleges that are responsive to Wisconsin's educational and workforce needs, the District Boards Association is an enjoyable and rewarding way to develop your knowledge and skills as a district board member.

    Act 10 for Boards of Trustees
    Kevin Terry, Esq, Michael Best & Friedrich LLP

    • We are all watching ACT 10 activity in the courts. District colleges are talking to staff about the implications of court rulings. This session is an opportunity to brief your board on Act 10, hear about recent updates, and learn about ACT 10 issues that trustees may face in their board role. Some colleges have briefed their boards in closed sessions. This session lays a great foundation for whatever you decide to do in the future.
    Board Self-Assessment & Development

    • Just as our college staff engage in continuous improvement activities, boards benefit from activities to improve their own performance. Regular self-assessment, followed by action, are critical parts of meaningful board improvement. This session is designed to provide approaches, tools for assessment and strategies for follow-up.
